It's a normal zip file.

I'm very interested in having a poke around, I noticed in the documentation that you can get the source code on CD under the GPL, busybox was mentioned.
The Novatel device has an SDK that lets you add your own widgets in, it comes with a GPS to let you do stuff like local weather... Im hoping that the homepage could be customized..

I was more hoping for a telnetd for the E585 so I could poke around the file system and see what goodies are in there :)
Well, about telnetd, it's already there and running. But iptables is filtering port 23.
ReplyDeleteI already got access (read/write) to the internal filesystem (using a bug in the web interface) but I didn't yet find an injection vector to execute code. I need to change a file permission to get full access.
I'll have a look at it in the next days..

All you have to do is switch on connect the mifi to the pc, click on the unlockE585_v2.exe and put in the donation code, then wait for a few minutes until the windows closes and your mifi is unlocked. Just remember to set up a new profile i.e for vodafone APN = internet, user name = web & password = web. i unlocked my Mifi within 5 minutes of donating.

@ Ted: I'm glad to hear that! Unfortunately it's windows (or some windows processes) which use the com ports and my program fails. All programs must be shutdown and a computer reboot it's best.

Working absolutely fine for me with my new E585 bought a couple of days ago. I am now using my contract Voda SIM in the E585. I did have to run the program twice (with the same transaction id) after yanking the cable too soon the first time (too impatient). Big thanks to Zibri for this fantastic work and for helping me out via email.

ReplyDeleteI could possibly do it.. but it's a useless fix. The E5 has only 29mb of RAM and a 528mhz CPU actually clocked at 384mhz. More than 5 connections (think of emule) could even be more than it can handle. And since it's 5 concurrent sessions, I don't think there is much people needing more.

I've just bought your programme. Many thanks for this service. I'm trying to run it on Parallels Desktop 4 on a Mac. (I told the system to connect the Huawei to the VM when asked) - it's connected via USB.
ReplyDeleteUpon entering the code, I got the message "Connect Card". I wasn't able to get an autoexec.bat to run and see no virtual CD-ROM from the Huawei in my list of drives in the Virtual XP.
Any pointers would be appreciated.

When you connect the E585 you should see a new cdrom. If you don't then you must setup something in parallels. I can't help you with that but I know someone made it work.

ReplyDeleteI had lots of problems because of VirtualBox: inside it the card never installed fully in either XP or WIN 7 virtual machines (always problems with rdnis communication install) so the unlocker was not able to see the card. I tried several time to reinstall etc but only got many freezes in the VirtualBox and even crashes of the mac. At the end I resorted to BootCamp and therefore a dual boot with win 7 on a separate partition. This time the installation went smoothly and the card was seen w/o errors. To unlock do not forget to disable the firewall (or give full access to the unlocker) otherwise you get a "socket error". You must also be connected to internet for the unlocker to work. It did it quickly and now I am happily connected with two macs and a wifi only Ipad :-)
Two further hints for others: in the virtual machines you have to define the card as a USB filtered device toward the virtual machine (i.e. give control of it to the virtual machine overriding the mac os); this in virtualbox is done under settings). The XP drivers can be found not on the card but in the new folder (in a subfolder of drivers within it) that autorun.exe creates. Good luck!

Usually *99# dials the default profile. with ***1 or ***2 you usually dial the first or second profile.
Hello the unlock seemd to have worked, but now i always have a large number in the Display. I already set an new Mobile Profile but it won't change. The Provider should be t-mobile. If i load factory defaults will the unlock still be there? and after a firmware upgrade?

Please READ the comments before posting a new question. That is a know firmware bug and happens only on t-mobile. Yes. Unlock is permanent. To connect to a different provider you need however to setup a new profile.

Sure! That's the purpose... obviously you must put a spanish sim inside and unlock it with my program. Then you must setup a new profile for the new sim and you're set!

No. the confirmation code is generated by Paypal and it's in your receipt. It's not the numbers with dashes code.

ReplyDeleteI just received a new Huawei E583C, sold as a "T-Mobile Wireless Pointer" in the UK. T-Mobile won't unlock it for three months and didn't even have the procedures and tools ready yet, but this little utility unlocked it on the second attempt without issue. The first one was spoilt by some old connection manager popping up.

With the same code you can also try version 2.

Hi, just to say thanks - I seem to have unlocked a 3 EIRE E585 successfully.
ReplyDeleteI say 'seem to' only because I did receive an error of 'PurgeComm function failed on COM3' and hence it never actually completed - but testing with a UK 02 sim, it registers onto O2 IRL OK, so I guess it worked!

Yep.. some glitches may happen if you kept the SIM inside while unlocking.

ReplyDeleteBeen struggling for over an hour, failing to unlock my E585. One email to Zibri, which he replied to within 10minutes, and it turned out I've been using V2 instead of V4 of the software.
Downloaded V4 and my modem was unlocked within 5minutes!
I'm sure there's other places online that will unlock, maybe cheaper, but this has to be the easiest (just get the right installer) and best guy to deal with!

Yep.. V2 and V4 are for the 2 different firmware versions of the 3UK E585.

Meanwhile, has anyone tried connecting to Telstra NW? Do you notice "[R]" sysmbol at the Bottom Right of the Wifi, which indicates Roaming, but I am connecting localy in Melbourne. Also it shows I have connected to "3" network. When I configured the APN I had to check the box which says " connect even when Roaming". Has anyone managed to fix this issue?
No issues when I connect to Optus though.
You must create a new profile then set it as default.

Hi Sunil. Yes I have this issue using a Telstra SIM too, although I bought my E585 unlocked from eBay. The only way I could get it to connect was to check the "automatically connect even if roaming" checkbox. I don't have a solution. Telstra are useless, of course. Now I wonder if my charges will be "roaming" style (ie. huge) even though I'm in Melbourne. How are your Telstra bills going?

There is NO virus. It's a false positive because the program is protected.

ReplyDeleteGreetings from Oz. Downloaded the E585 programme, but where does one get the code? I gather it comes from an email response from paypal, but where can I find out your donation fee?
Ran the programme, it comes up with an entry field with notation saying enter code, BUY or BUY FOREVER
Can't enter code, 'cause I don't have one, and entering BUY attempts to open paypal, but since there is no sim in the device, as per your instructions, I can't access the 'net.
I know I can be a noob, but any help would be appreciated.

To USE the unlocker your pc MUST be connected to the internet using a DIFFERENT connection. (Like an ethernet cable and a router).

Yes: probably you didn't install the SERIAL DRIVERS (tehy are inside the embedded fake cdrom that appears in device manager after connecting the card)

hi i didnt use you to unlock my e585 as i didnt find you till after i unlocked it... BUT the info on this page has been of great use to me and i wanted to share some help back in return for the help iv got from you and your friends

o2 - change authentifaction to chap and change connection to 3g prefered
vodafone - loads of trouble even your site couldnt help it was a brand new sim calls to voda said sim was active but it constantly disconnecting the second it connected how i fixed this i downloaded vodafones own connect software connected the e585 to the pc through usb and connected the dongle to the internet through vodas connect software and now the dongle connects on its own through the dongles firmware while it is unplugged... if this helps anyone then i feel iv repaid for pinching info of a forum for a service i didnt use... just cause this fixed my voda sim does not mean that it may not help any other network thats struggling

Just unlocked my Australian E585. Two attempts and all good.

Would not work on my laptop running Win 7 ultimate 64bit. Program came up with an exception error.
Ran fine on my PC running same OS. Make sure of the following - Drivers are installed properly & follow the instructions to a 'T' provided in the download zip. Thanks Zibri!
Could you please tell me the differences of the two pcs?

Hi. I donated, got the confirmation code and tried it. After 'Initiating' I get a 'network not available' or similar. I was disconnected from the internet, as I am using another Huawei device (E1552) for that, so I had disconnected that to avoid conflicts. Now when I try again while connected to the internet, I get a 'code already used' even though the device remains locked. Any advice?

Password: Admin
Then you must configure a new profile and then set it as default.
